M.R. Pigs Barbecue got its start in 1996, when Bethel Park resident Bill Barger was finally convinced by family and friends to share his pig roasting talents with the public. Today, he and his staff cater the best in locally sourced closed-pit roasted pig and barbecued meats to customers in the Pittsburgh area and well beyond.
Barbecue has a special place in Bill’s heart. Besides a love for the flavors, he derives happiness from cooking, feeding others, and accepting “invitations” to parties where he enjoys the company of people who are enjoying themselves while he cooks.
Relax and focus on your guests
M.R. Pigs is unique because food is cooked on-site, where the sensory delights of roasting aromas, smoke, sizzle, and savory flavors unite to create a one-of-a-kind experience. M.R. Pigs also is one of the few remaining barbecue caterers in the area that will roast a whole hog at your site.
Whether guests want to “sample” how the roast is progressing or just enjoy the end result, Bill welcomes interest in how he prepares and cooks the food at your event. Pigs are prepared North Carolina style – closed pit split, spread, and mopped with a vinegar pepper sauce that is sealed in with roasting.
Many other meats, as well as appetizers and side dishes, are also available – see our menu. Customers can tailor their event menu to suit their preferences. Most importantly, with the exception of providing drinks, event hosts know they can just relax and enjoy themselves. M.R. Pigs will take care of all food, cooking equipment and supplies, plates, napkins, utensils, condiments, and take-home containers – essentially everything needed for a successful gathering.
